K. Gus Dimitrelos - Senior Digital Forensics Consulting Expert

            Gus currently performs cyber forensic investigations and provides expert courtroom testimony to the US Department of Justice, US State Department, US Federal Defender's Office, numerous state and local law enforcement agencies and private law firms and attorneys. As the former Alabama Director of Digital Evidence and co-founder, Gus offers his expertise in complex computer, cellular and GPS cases throughout the world.

 

Certified in US Federal Court as a Digital Evidence Forensic Expert, Gus has directly assisted the FBI, ATF, DEA, ICE and the US Secret Service in solving digital investigations, conducting computer / cellular forensics and reconstructing historical cellular data.

 

Gus is considered a premier Cyber investigator receiving worldwide notability solving complex investigations for Hollywood Celebrities such as Linkin Park and Entertainment and Law Firms such as DavisShapiro-Beverly Hills. This investigation was featured in Wired Magazine, and Esquire Magazine - International.

 

Gus is also a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Evaluation, Prevention, Interdicting and Investigation of Acts of Terrorism and has conducted cyber-terrorism and cellular forensic program evaluations for the Anti-terrorism Assistance Program (ATAP), US Department of State. His most recent evaluations included overseas assessments of the program in the Middle East and South America. 

 

Prior to retiring from the US Secret Service Gus held many positions including; Supervisor for all 15 Electronic Crime Taskforces throughout the United States; US Secret Service lead interviewer for the 2003 USA/Canada Northeastern Power Outage Task Force; Vice-chairman on the Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence (SWGDE) Committee; and 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics - Technical Security Infrastructure Coordinator.

 

Gus has coordinated over 100 domestic and international Technical Security Surveys for Presidents William J. Clinton and George W. Bush and Vice-Presidents Albert Gore and Dick Cheney. Only six special agents in the USSS are offered these coveted positions.

Shawn Newton - Co-Founder and Senior Digital Forensics Consulting Expert 

Shawn Newton is a retired federal agent from the Department of Homeland Security.

            In March of 1998 Shawn Newton was one of the founding members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. While assigned to the ICAC/Law Enforcement Against Child Harm (LEACH) task force Shawn Newton conducted and participated in hundreds of computer related investigations including but not limited to child pornography, commercial fraud, money laundering, narcotics smuggling and foreign public corruption cases.

            In February of 2000 Shawn Newton was selected to attend the US Treasury Department, Computer Investigative Specialist 2000 (CIS2000) training program. This program was comprised of criminal investigators from four of the US Treasury Department law enforcement agencies including the U S Customs Service, US Secret Service (USSS), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF). CIS2000 is a very intensive computer evidence recovery course that instructs the candidates in the field of computer forensics. Shawn Newton utilizes EnCase and Access Data forensic software to conduct forensic exams.

            From February 2000 to the present Shawn Newton, was one of the individuals that performed all of the computer forensic exams for the LEACH Task Force. To date Shawn Newton has performed over 500 computer, and related media, forensic exams that have resulted in criminal prosecutions and civil litigation cases. Shawn Newton, as a computer investigative specialist, conducted numerous computer forensic exams for numerous foreign governments of Central and South American countries through his position with the US Customs Service which resulted in the arrest and conviction of the former President of Nicaragua, Arnaldo Aleman. These exams have resulted in the indictment and ongoing plea negotiations of some Fortune 500 corporations located in the United States and abroad.

            Prior to retirement, Shawn was the Acting Group Supervisor of the High Tech Crime Unit in the SAC Miami area. Shawn was responsible for conducting Internet investigations on a worldwide scale and conducting computer forensic exams for the newly formed Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and for numerous other federal and state agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) Shawn Newton has testified numerous times in state and federal courts and is accepted as a digital evidence recovery expert in the Southern District of Florida (federal) and the State of Florida courts.

John V. Minotti, EnCE, ACE, ACI, A+, Network +, - Director of Training and Curriculum

            John is currently spearheading Forensic Lab Management, developing and auditing policies and procedures, developing and teaching classes related to acquisition and analysis of electronic data on computer systems and cell phones. 

As the lead instructor, John is also a certified AccessData full time instructor and began teaching Law Enforcement, Military, and Private Sector students classes in; acquisition methods, decryption technology, and forensic analysis of digital media.  John currently teaches AccessData's BootCamp class, the Advanced Windows Forensics Class, the Vista Transition Class, and the Applied Decryption Class. In addition to these, John helped develop and teach the AccessData Internet Forensics Class.     

John is also part of a nine member board that developed minimum and recommended Standard Operational Procedures for digital forensic laboratories. John is also a digital forensic lab auditor.

John co-founded the computer forensic firm Acquisition Data in 2003. His duties with Acquisition Data included acquisition, preservation and analysis of digital media. John is also involved in training law enforcement on first responder procedures, various computer forensic programs and computer forensic and cell phone forensics methodologies.

 

George P. Anaipakos - Senior Consultant and Cyber Crimes Instructor

            George has over thirty years of combined experience as a city, state and federal law enforcement professional.  He is a retired Supervisory Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security, and in addition has served with several other Federal agencies.  In 1998 he was selected to attend the Computer Investigative Specialist (CIS) training program presented by the United States Treasury Department.  While employed by the United States Customs Service in South Florida he helped establish the Computer Forensics Laboratory, and was the supervisor of the Computer Forensics Group from 2004 until his retirement.

      George has extensive experience in public corruption and breach of public trust investigations.  While assigned to an Internal Affairs office he was the case agent in several successful investigations that sparked media attention.  He has traveled extensively, both to Europe and the Far East, conducting interviews and obtaining evidence.  Following a long-term undercover investigation, which ferreted out corruption within the South Florida law enforcement community, George received the coveted Commissioner's Citation.

George has a diverse background, with training and experience in both military and law enforcement areas.  As a federal law enforcement officer he has served on Secret Service protection details during several elections, the Olympic Games in Atlanta and Salt Lake City and the Anniversary of the United Nations in New York City.  He has been a member of the Customs Overseas Analysis Team (COATS), examining security procedures at airports and seaports in Central America, and was recently assigned to southern Europe as a special agent team member of the Container Security Initiative Program (CSI).  The objective of CSI is to prevent the introduction of weapons of mass destruction into sea containers and cargo bound for the United States by using non-intrusive inspection of cargo containers.  These methods include gamma and x-rays devices, and the use of Smith-Heimann mobile examination vehicles, as well as radiation detection portals installed at ports of entry.  George has assisted with cargo inspections prior to and after the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

George is a veteran of both the US Marine Corps and US Army Airborne; and served as a fire-team leader in combat in Southeast Asia.  He is a federal and state certified firearms instructor and armorer, and has competed in and won several national shooting competitions.  He holds current certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Florida.

Scott J. Israel - G6 Investigations - Global Director of Investigations

            Scott Israel was the Democratic Nominee for the Sheriff of Broward County and garnered hundreds of thousands of votes during the 2008 Elections.  Scott was a proven leader as Chief of Police for North Bay Village developing successful community policing programs, and his combination of traditional and innovative programs significantly reduced Part One Crimes by 46%, property crimes by 49%, and violent crimes by 28%.

Scott built his career from the ground up advancing from the rank of police officer to executive level command staff and was appointed to Governor Jeb Bush's Southeast Regional Anti-Terrorism Task Force.

While serving the community of Fort Lauderdale as the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Captain, Community Support Captain and SWAT Team Commander, Scott engineered the department's Weapons of Mass Destruction Standard Operating Procedures Manual and instituted inter-agency training throughout the City. Scott's financial management skills were reflected in his oversight of a $7.5 million budget of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s overall $70 million budget.
